The vehicle identification survey aims to verify the availability and functionality of mandatory security items, as well as the existence of judicial and administrative restrictions or blockages and possible adulterations. No mechanical devices are checked. Through a checklist, the person responsible for the inspection also checks the chassis and engine numbering, color, plate and any changes in the original characteristics and whether they have been regularized and authorized.
Burnt headlamp and spoiled horn yield disapproval
For those who are about to perform the procedure, it is worth paying attention to not be disapproved. "Approximately 20% of the vehicles we inspect are disapproved. Of this amount, 70% are items that the customer can visually check before the inspection", says Leonardo Ianegitz. It mainly refers to mandatory safety equipment, which is part of any basic maintenance check-up: condition of tires and signal lights, horn, windshield wipers, seat belts, back plate lighting and odometer. The guideline is to check that everything is working so that it does not fail for nothing - if the vehicle does not pass the inspection, the period for adaptation is granted.
Attention with darkened film
Special care with a very popular accessory that has a high failure rate: the darkened film on the windows, which many owners install without knowing what can and cannot. Windshield film, according to the CTB [Brazilian Traffic Code], must have 75% minimum transparency if the glass is colorless and 70% if it is colored. In addition, the minimum transparency is 70% in the front side windows, while in the others it cannot be less than 28%. Reflective films, in turn, are completely prohibited. The verification of this percentage of transparency is carried out through the registration that accompanies each film.
